Let's Beautify Quincy!

Projects such as these require a lot of community cooperation, participation and commitment!

In 2018, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce was asked to assist with advertising for the flower basket project.

In 2020 the Quincy Chamber of Commerce used the rest of the funds donated by the Estate of Captain Carl to purchase flower baskets to replace the baskets that had been used downtown.  Thanks to the generosity of Captain Carl's Estate, we were able to not only replace but also purchase several new baskets and spread them throughout Quincy and East Quincy.  This brought our flower basket count to seventy.  The new flower baskets contain a built-in reservoir and insulation to prevent evaporation and provide for longer periods of time without needing to water them every day.

In 2021 we were asked to take over managing the project entirely.  This process includes arranging for the flower baskets to be delivered to Country Gardens in Standish each October, where they are stored and re-planted for next spring.  In May, we arrange for pickup of all the baskets and deliver them throughout Quincy and East Quincy.  We also hire and manage an employee to take care of watering and caring for the baskets downtown and at the Sav Mor shopping center throughout the growing season. Many thanks to Kevin Davis for use of his water trailer and to Wild Hare Signs for providing the plaques.
